The Importance of Good Nutrition For Your Pet

Keeping your pet healthy

Nutrition is a key factor in promoting and maintaining good health, performance and longevity. Your pet is what it eats and, without the correct nutrients, cannot rebuild and repair vital organs, maintain muscle tone or mobilise immune defences. On the other hand, consumption of too much of certain nutrients can be harmful. The answer to this dilemma is to feed a complete and balanced diet.

Because the nutritional value of commonly used human food varies greatly depending not only on its nature but also its quality, source, method of storage, etc, it is impossible to formulate a consistent balanced diet using household scraps. It is for these reasons that the majority of pet owners feed prepared pet foods made by reputable, research based companies, such as Royal Canin, Waltham or Hills.

We will be happy to recommend a brand of either canned or dry food that will be most suitable for your pet.

Remember that your pet's nutrient needs are affected by:

  • Disease
  • Environment
  • Age
  • Temperature
  • Activity
  • Reproduction

Again seek our advice if you think a change of diet is required - you can have confidence in our recommendation.
